# Prince’s “The Very Best Of” Tops U.S. Chart This Week

The Very Best of Prince is the **#1 album** in the U.S. this week (April 15 – 21, 2016) with over 121,000 album project units, according to BuzzAngle Music. The number is particularly impressive since **almost all of the sales came on a single day**, the day of his death and the last day of the sales week.

Prince charted 4 of the Top 10 albums for the week through overwhelming sales on a single day, Thursday, the day of his tragic death.*Purple Rain* was second at 91,113\. *A Sailor’s Guide to Earth*, the new release from Sturgill Simpson, was the leading album going into Thursday and finished third with 51,802 album project units. *Santana IV*, the new release from Santana, finished at #5 with 37,276 album project units.

*Purple Rain* was the top selling song of the week with 120K song sales. Prince also had four of the 10 top selling songs for the week. The others were *Little Red Corvette* (#5), *Kiss* (#7), and *Let’s Go Crazy* (#8).
