Singer-songwriter Raye renewed her call for record labels to give songwriters a share of recording royalties during her acceptance speech at the UK’s Ivor’s Awards last week.

“All of us songwriters out here, we have to come together, I’m telling you,” [Raye](https://rayeofficial.com/?ref=hypebot.com) said while accepting the Songwriter of The Year Award with her songwriting Grandfather Michael standing by her side. “Master. Royalty. Points. Period!”

“This is not a joke. We are so important,” she continued. “And I’m not talking about me: like, artists. I’m talking about the voiceless, beating heart of this industry, which is songwriters.”

“We need to come together. We need to actually put our foot down. And sorry, record labels, but I’m saying it, and we all need to start saying it. Points. A fee. Travel fees. Cover food and travel to sessions. This is just ethical. This is basic,” Raye concluded to thunderous applause.

Earlier this year. Raye won six Brit Awards, including Album of The Year.
