A recent update of the **Pew Research Centre**'s ongoing study of who uses social media offered insights into **Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest** and **Instagram.** All social networks are not created equal, and depending on who you're trying to reach, you may want to reconfigure your social media strategy. **The study's top takeaways:**

- City dwellers are more likely than those in rural areas to be on Twitter
- Women are 5X more likely as men to use Pinterest
- Blacks and Hispanics are heavier users than whites of Instagram
