Some analysts question IF Facebook has jumped the shark, but a new [Nielson](http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/global/social-media-report-2012-social-media-comes-of-age/?ref=hypebot.com) survey shows that overall social media is continuing to grow and cement its place at the center of daily life for many. Total time spent on social media in the U.S. across all devices grew 37% to 121 billion minutes in July 2012, compared to 88 billion in July 2011\. But what and how they access social media is shifting. **DETAILS:**

Growth in mobile used helped fuel the growth. While the computer remains the top device for social media access, consumers’ time spent with social media on mobile jumped 63% percent in 2012, compared to the same period last year. Overall, consumers continue to spend more time on social networks than any other category of web sites – 20% via PC and 30% of total time online via mobile. Related articles
