One year after Spotify launched in India the streamer is sharing some stats and trends.

### The Stats

- 6,400 Indian creators are using Spotify for Artists. (Not a huge number given the country’s population)
- Listeners from 2,300 cities are tuning in to more than 350 country-specific curated playlists like New Music Hindi and Punjabi 101
- That’s up from 120 playlists at launch.

### Local Love

Spotify listeners in India have streamed over 130 artists each in the past year. The top five most-streamed in the country are from India. Topping the list are three Bollywood singers: [**Arijit Singh**](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4YRxDV8wJFPHPTeXepOstw?si=LxuURGABS1Wz0%5FioH2SNsQ&ref=hypebot.com), [**Tanishk Bagchi**](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4f7KfxeHq9BiylGmyXepGt?si=VP1xaFocRHe7hjlpxIT6PQ&ref=hypebot.com), and [**Neha Kakkar**](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5f4QpKfy7ptCHwTqspnSJI?si=JGSX0qTER6axSZlP4LTJBg&ref=hypebot.com).

The age group of 35 to 44-year-olds stream Indian artists at a higher rate than any other.

Globally streamed hits are also very popular in India. The most-streamed international artist in India is [**Post Malone**](https://open.spotify.com/artist/246dkjvS1zLTtiykXe5h60?si=AcP4nTf%5FRo25n5fjCMycrQ&ref=hypebot.com), who was also Spotify’s most-streamed global artist in 2019; [**BTS**](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3Nrfpe0tUJi4K4DXYWgMUX?si=TwEVEFoqRiW35gkTjcinBg&ref=hypebot.com) and [**Taylor Swift**](https://open.spotify.com/artist/06HL4z0CvFAxyc27GXpf02?si=fWcmNSx7S5aaO1jCGnvGnA&ref=hypebot.com) are popular with Indian listeners as well.
