# Spotify Shares 2019 Listening Stats And It’s Good News For Artists

In addition to the data points shared today on the [Spotify For Artist “Wrapped](https://www.hypebot.com/spotify-releases-2019-wrapped-for-artists/)” micro-sites, Spotify also shared some new 2019 stats that appear to be good news for developing and non-superstar artists globally.

**On Spotify in 2019**

- More than **1.2M artists** were listened to for more than **100 hours**
- More impressively, **169,000 artists** spanning **208 countries** and territories were listened to for more than **10,000 hours** in 2019
- The trend is global: more than **70,000 unique artists** were listened toin every one of the **79 markets** where Spotify is available

Without more context, these numbers are hopeful but far from overwhelming and a million miles away from Spotify CEO **Daniel Ek**‘s stated goal of “[enabling 1 million artists to live off of their work](https://www.hypebot.com/spotify-to-monetize-artistfan-relationship-with-a-two-sided-marketplace/).”
