[**The Music Biz Weekly Podcast**](https://www.hypebot.com/tag/music-biz-weekly-podcast/) looks at the marketing challenges faced by [**Stanley Simmons**](https://www.bandsintown.com/a/15645270-stanley-simmons?utm%5Fsource=hypebot&came%5Ffrom=900), the singer-songwriter duo consisting of **KISS** leaders **Gene Simmons** and **Paul Stanley**’s sons, Evan and Nick.

**Michael Brandvold** and **Blasko** explore how the band’s decision to use their famous parents’ last names creates preconceived notions among **KISS** fans who expect heavy metal music, while the duo actually produce acoustic songs more similar to **Simon and Garfunkel**.

In moves designed to show their independence from their famous fathers, the duo released their album on vinyl and CD first before making it available on digital platforms, and have been performing in small club tours auctioning off personal KISS memorabilia to fund the project.
