# The Weeknd Breaks Spotify Single Day Record With More Than 33 Million Streams Every 24 Hours

The artist's **top 5 tracks** have a **cumulative 1.6 billion plays** on the music streamer.

While thus far, the Spotify PR team failed to attach a specific number to The Weeknd's record one day streams (we even asked nicely…), they did manage to gather two quotes from execs involved: **Monte Lipman**, Chairman & Co-Founder, **Republic Records** said, “Spotify’s continued support of The Weeknd has now reached historic proportions and also reinforces the tremendous growth of global streaming." **Spotify**'s Global Head of Creator Services, **Troy Carter** echoed the excitement saying, "we're proud to have partnered with The Weeknd, his management and Republic Records on a phenomenal album. We look forward to breaking even more records together in the near future."**UPDATE:** Music Ally [calculated](http://musically.com/2016/11/29/the-weeknd-starboy-album-is-doing-32-8m-daily-spotify-plays/?ref=hypebot.com) that the 18 tracks of The Weeknds' Starboy album are getting a 32.8 million daily streams on Spotify, and that doesn't include the daily streams of all of his previous releases.
