Since news broke late last week that Apple is likely buying Beats for $3.2 billion, pundits and analysts have been speculating on why Tom Cook would chose beats as the companies most expensive acquisition ever. Is the attraction Jimmy Iovine, Dre, Ian Rogers and the rest of the Beats team? Is it because Beats Music could jump start Apple's behind- the-curve streaming music effort? Is the real value in the headphones sells each year?

While all of these factor's help determine Beats' value, this [Statista chart](http://www.statista.com/chart/2227/preferred-headphone-brands-among-us-teens/?ref=hypebot.com) shows another motivation for Apple to close the deal: teens love Beats. A PiperJaffrey Spring 2014 survey of American teenagers speaks for itself: 46% of the respondents said their next pair of headphones would be a pair of Beats. Ranked second at 25% was Apple.
