Thousands of live music shows have been canceled or postponed through the end of March in venues large and small venues across America.

On Thursday afternoon, concert giants Live Nation and AEG both announced that all their shows would be canceled or postponed. Some of the major tours affected include Billie Eilish, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Cher, Kiss, Post Malone, Tool, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Chris Stapleton.

### Smaller Venues & Musicians Suffer Most

Thousands of smaller shows are being canceled too as states and municipalities ban or recommend the prohibition of large public gatherings.

The size of the gatherings prohibited varies wildly depending on location. Maine is recommending that gatherings over 50 be canceled. In OH, the ban is on gatherings over 100\. In California, New York and New Jersey it is 250.

For Live Nation, March is generally a slow month. But for middle-class musicians who play to pay the rent, a date lost is lost forever.

## What’s Next?

Broadway is staying dark through April 12th. Live Nation says it will re-evaluate the beginning of April with the goal of resuming full touring in May or June.
