UPDATED: Universal Music Chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge has been hospitalized after testing positive for coronavirus.

According to multiple sources, Grainge is receiving treatment at Los Angeles’ UCLA Medical Center.

**UPDATE:** *On Friday afternoon, the label’s main Santa, Monica office was evacuated after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, according to multiple reposts. UMG offices will remain closed and employees asked to work from home.*

It *was not clear if the infected employee was Grainge or another staffer. UMG has yet to issue an official statement.*

### Grainge’s Recent Birthday Party Causes Concern

Grainge’s illness was also a cause for concern for the many West Coast power players who attended his 60th birthday celebration on Feb. 29 in Palm Springs, sources told [Variety](https://variety.com/2020/film/news/universal-music-lucian-grainge-coronavirus-tim-cook-madison-club-1203534933/?ref=hypebot.com).

Apple execs Tim Cook and Eddie Cue and music mega-manager Irving Azoff were among those in attendance.
