Smartphones continue to grow in popularity in the U.S. according to [Nielsen](http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/online%5Fmobile/in-us-smartphones-now-majority-of-new-cellphone-purchases/?ref=hypebot.com). 38% now own smartphones. 55% of those who purchased a new handset in the past quarter bought one instead of a feature phone, up from 34% just a year ago. Android continues to lead with 38% with Apple's iPhone has shown the most growth. **The charts:**
