After the [controversy](https://www.hypebot.com/excision-fails-to-clear-up-electronic-dance-musics-fake-facebook-fans-issue/) over whether or not EDM artists are buying fans, **Simon Tam** posts about why buying followers is a bad idea. On [Music Think Tank](http://www.musicthinktank.com/blog/why-buying-followers-is-a-bad-idea.html?ref=hypebot.com), Simon explains how these fan-buying services work and the problems with them. Instead of spending money on these services, focus on strengthening the relationship with your current fans and sharing content that may attract real fans.

“**Real fans** will like, comment, and share content. Fake accounts just sit there and eventually get deleted by social media services since they are inactive or only generate spam.” ([Read On](http://www.musicthinktank.com/blog/why-buying-followers-is-a-bad-idea.html?ref=hypebot.com))
