YouTube has now announced the mandatory consolidation of all an artist’s subscribers under an Official Artist Channel. If a fan is subscribed to an unofficial YouTube artist channel, they will now be subscribed to the Official Artist Channel and subscriptions to any unofficial artist channels will become inactive. [![image from lh5.googleusercontent.com](http://hypebot.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451b36c69e201bb09ebc925970d-450wi "image from lh5.googleusercontent.com")](http://hypebot.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451b36c69e201bb09ebc925970d-popup?ref=hypebot.com) Today's announcement also explains in part why [YouTube has signed on to](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-to-assign-isni-ids-to-all-musicians-songwriters/) the global International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) initiative which assigns an ID to every creator. **What It Means For Artists** For artists, uniting fan subscribers under one channel may mean more reach when promoting on the platform . It also gives the artist and their team more control and opportunities to engage directly with fans through YouTube features like [Community Posts](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEdvpU2pFRCVqU6yIPyTpMQ/community?ref=hypebot.com), [Mobile Live](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853700?ref=hypebot.com) and [Ticketing](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7570245?ref=hypebot.com). The consolidation includes videos from VEVO and will eventually be mandatory. The later could present problems for artists who have maintained an unofficial channel alongside an official label-controlled channel, particularly if they are no longer affiliated with the label. **Get More Info** YouTube will be rolling out of the new Official Artist Channels to artists on the platform over the coming weeks. Artists and marketers looking for more information on their Official Artist Channels can read more in the YouTube For Artists [Help Center.](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7336634?ref=hypebot.com) **MORE: [YouTube To Assign ISNI IDs To All Musicians, Songwriters](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-to-assign-isni-ids-to-all-musicians-songwriters/)** Related articles [![](http://i.zemanta.com/367633159_80_80.jpg)](http://musically.com/2016/04/25/justin-bieber-added-1m-youtube-subscribers-last-month/?ref=hypebot.com)[Justin Bieber added 1m YouTube subscribers last month](http://musically.com/2016/04/25/justin-bieber-added-1m-youtube-subscribers-last-month/?ref=hypebot.com) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/377870478_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/take-your-followers-on-the-road-using-youtube-live/)[Take Your Followers On The Road Using YouTube Live](https://www.hypebot.com/take-your-followers-on-the-road-using-youtube-live/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/AWEFVL2nA73bpASWSsDX_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-changes-rules-no-monetization-of-new-artists/)[YouTube Changes Rules, No Monetization Of New Artists – hypebot](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-changes-rules-no-monetization-of-new-artists/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/378103784_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/how-the-web-screws-artistsby-allowing-them-a-normal-life/)[How The Web Screws Artists… By Allowing Them A Normal Life](https://www.hypebot.com/how-the-web-screws-artistsby-allowing-them-a-normal-life/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/378683580_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/warner-music-signs-youtube-deal-under-very-difficult-circumstances/)[Warner Music Signs YouTube Deal "Under Very Difficult Circumstances"](https://www.hypebot.com/warner-music-signs-youtube-deal-under-very-difficult-circumstances/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/377893515_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-and-youtube-live-tips-from-a-google-insider-the-music-biz-weekly-podcast/)[YouTube and YouTube Live Tips From A Google Insider \[The Music Biz Weekly Podcast\]](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-and-youtube-live-tips-from-a-google-insider-the-music-biz-weekly-podcast/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/375940354_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/join-soundclouds-free-artist-forum-live-online-today-at-1230pm-et/)[Join SoundCloud's Free Artist Forum Live Online Today At 12:45PM ET](https://www.hypebot.com/join-soundclouds-free-artist-forum-live-online-today-at-1230pm-et/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/AWEEd81r-fGRp8gKC7Gg_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/am-brief-youtube-guts-artist-monetization-us-piracy-report-amazon-nips-at-spotify-eu-more/)[AM BRIEF: YouTube Guts Artist Monetization – US Piracy Report – Amazon Nips At Spotify EU – More – hypebot](https://www.hypebot.com/am-brief-youtube-guts-artist-monetization-us-piracy-report-amazon-nips-at-spotify-eu-more/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/AWDWxPqTA73bpASWSo2i_80_80.jpg)](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-partnering-with-ticketmaster-to-show-tour-dates/)[YouTube Partnering With Ticketmaster To Show Tour Dates – hypebot](https://www.hypebot.com/youtube-partnering-with-ticketmaster-to-show-tour-dates/) [![](http://i.zemanta.com/367633154_80_80.jpg)](http://musically.com/2016/04/25/warner-music-to-film-artist-interviews-in-360-degrees/?ref=hypebot.com)[Warner Music to film artist interviews in 360 degrees](http://musically.com/2016/04/25/warner-music-to-film-artist-interviews-in-360-degrees/?ref=hypebot.com)
