Merger & Sale Rumors Heat Up for EMI, Warners and BMG

Emi_3According to the UK Telegraph, "…Another takeover tale to resurface was that music retailer EMI Group could attract a bid at 300p a share. Dealers have speculated for months that it will tie-up with Warner Music."Wmg_3

"Only last Friday, ABN Amro upgraded EMI from hold to buy and lifted its target price from 246p to 300p, saying that a merger with Warner Music could add 36p to the current share price. Dealers said that yesterday Cazenove became the latest broker to think Bertelsmann_logo_01_2EMI’s days of independence are numbered."

The rumor mill is also swirling that Universal is bidding for the BMG publishing catalog, but credible rumors have surfaces as to who will buy the for sale record division not linked with Sony.
