WMG Stock Slumps. Rykodisc & Cordless Consolidate. Is Reprise Next?

Wmg
Earlier this week Warner Music Group’s stock hit new lows and more staffers were let go.

Today comes news that the label group is combining its Rykodisc label and Cordless digital only imprint. In public the move is said to be designed to give Cordless artists access to Ryko’ s staff while enhancing the digital offerings of Rykodisc. In reality, however, no Cordless act has gained any traction, but Warner appears to not want to admit failure. As part of the restructuring, Kill Rock Stars founder Slim Moon has been named senior director of A&R and artist development for Rykodisc.

Rumors
One source tells Hypebot that Reprise is next on the chopping block.  Reprise has long shared Warner’s back office and now we’re hearing that its promotion and marketing will be combined as well.
