Job Title: Operations Coordinator Future Of Music Coalition
Reports to: Executive Director and Operations Manager Start Date: Open until filled.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Type: Full-time

FMC Mission: The Future of Music Coalition is a national nonprofit education, research and advocacy organization that identifies, examines, interprets and translates the challenging issues at the intersection of music, law, technology and policy.

FMC achieves this through continuous interaction with its primary constituency ­ musicians ­ and in collaboration with other creator/citizen groups.

FMC actualizes its mission through a number of activities. First, we organize public discussion of issues that impact musicians and the public at large, making sure to include a variety of voices in the conversation.
Second, we submit testimony, publish articles and speak on panels to make sure the creators’ experience is heard. Third, we encourage musicians and citizens to publicly document their experiences on the FMC website. Finally, we generate original research on historic trends and issues of import to the public to more completely illuminate the mechanics of the music industry.

Operations Coordinator Responsibilities and Duties: Responsible for general office management and bookkeeping to ensure smooth functioning of administrative systems.

Day to Day Operations
€    Provide clerical and operational support to Executive Director;
€    Maintain office calendar and schedule board and staff conference calls;
€    Take minutes at staff and board meetings;
€    Maintain written board, personnel and office procedures manual;
€    Answer telephone and transfers calls/emails to appropriate individuals..

Budgeting/Finances
€    Assist Executive Director in development, revision and status of
organization and project budgets, as well as all cash flow, financial statements;
€    Primary point of contact with vendors;
€    Ensure payment of payroll taxes and the filing of all year-end reports
to all required governmental agencies;
€    Work with outside bookkeeper and tax accountant to maintain accurate
financial information.

Copy Editing
€    Assist with creation of FMC publications, newsletters, and grants.

Other Responsibilities
€    Database management as necessary;
€    Oversee volunteers and interns as necessary;
€    Other responsibilities as necessary for a small office.

Qualifications: Excellent communication, writing, organizational skills and attention to detail. Very good working knowledge of how nonprofit accounting and budgets work. A good understanding of FMC programs and related issues is helpful, but not necessary.

Software: We are a Mac based office. Knowledge of Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Filemaker necessary. Also must be comfortable with web-based collaborative services like Basecamp and Google calendars.
