The L.A. Times is the latest major newspaper cut staff and among the 150 employees let go is music writer Chuck Philips. Philips won a Pullitzer for his 1999 work exposing the corruption in the entertainment industry. But his reputation took a hit recently when the Times was forced to publish a lengthy retraction of a 2002 article that alleged Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was implicated in the murder of rapper 2pac Shakur.

Also among the other staffers departing the paper were music editor-writer Kevin Bronson and longtime music writer Richard Cromelin.
