As an executive in the Mobile music and entertainment segment as my "day job", I can speak authoritatively about the prospects of mobile music market.
Beware, however, that currently, the revenue margins for artists are compromised for the most part by greedy mobile operators, who charge between 35-65% for just using their mobile network to allow the music downloads . This is in part why a-la carte rates for mobile music content is higher than online--if it's not, the artists end up with much less than the same download online.
So, check your license (streaming, download, sync) agreements with the various providers before signing that dotted line. Make sure you understand what you're getting--and re-negotiate with the provider if you're not happy with it.
