The voting is on to pick next year's SXSW panels. Please consider giving Hypebot's proposal a vote and help spread the word to others. The panel topic is:
Live Music & The Net – More Than Just Ticketing
Description: A brief overview of the top online services that help artists book, promote and monetize their live performances followed by a panel and Q&A offering artists practical advice how to best utilize them. Questions explored:
2. How do you get the right gigs?
3. What online tools are there to help me book shows?
4. Are contests and pay to play valid avenues or a rip-off?
5. What is Eventful and how can it help or hurt me?
6. Can social networks help me get gigs?
7. How can I get people to come to my shows?
I know this is about “playing” live, but I a big part about live gigs is selling merchandise. Maybe you should include a topic that covers selling your merch at your live shows? Something like…
1. How to sell merchandise at your shows using today’s online tools.
I understand that there are some iPhone apps that will allow you to take credit cards right at the gig for merchandise that can be shipped.
Just a thought.
