MySpace Has Started Putting Ads Where Imeem Playlists Used To Be

image from www.wired.com WIRED blogger Eliot Van Buskirk was more than a bit surprised to learn that an imeem playlist that he'd created on his sadly defunct Listening Post blog had become a MySpace web ad. (Click on image from the Wired post to enlarge.) Other bloggers and web sites are reporting similar hijackings.

Former imeem users were already pissed off that their playlists disappeared when MySpace bought the struggling site. But ads? And without warning? In case you wanted to give the MySpace the benefit of the doubt, a company spokesperson confirmed that they were responsible for the ads.

Just before the holidays, MySpace asked users to be patient while they took a little longer to rebuild the playlists by hand. It's not clear whether the ads will then be replaced as well.
