Metric Crowdsources Remix With Indaba Music

image from www.intraffik.com (UPDATED) Indie rock starlets Metric are crowdsourcing a remix of their Fantasies album using Indaba Music.  Members of the group will choose their favorite remix of each of the album’s 10 tracks and grant each winning creator with $1,000. Metric hopes that directly engaging with their fans in this manner will deepen their connection with their supporters and provide them with excellent cache of crowdsourced remixes.

Topspin Media will hold up the backend and enable fans to purchase advanced stem packages for $1.99. While the competition will also feature a basic set of free stems, this move will enable the group to generate revenue at all stages of the competition.  From the initial remix to the final product, those participating can vote with their dollars how committed they are to winning the contest, as well as, owning the resulting songs. Also, RCRDLBL.com, an MP3 download site, will assist in exposing select remixes, by featuring them on their site as well as through their partnership with MySpace Music. Those interested in entering the contest can register here—the winning remixes will be announced in early 2011.
