PledgeMusic Scores Top 10 Fan Funded Hit

image from www.google.com (UPDATED) The Charlie Simpson album ‘Young Pilgrim’, currently at number 6 on the UK album charts, has become the first release funded through PledgeMusic’s direct-to-fan platform to crack the UK Top Ten. The achievement comes despite release stock being destroyed in the recent Sony PIAS warehouse fire.

500 fans generated the funds to record the new album in return for receiving a limited edition EP of new material and access to a range of premium incentives. The release was A&R’d by Paul Barton at PledgeMusic and released on the Nusic Sounds label via PIAS.

“When Charlie approached us earlier this year, he had a very clear idea of what he wanted to achieve," according to Malcolm Dunbar, PledgeMusic Managing Director. "He was very focused on interacting with his fans and involving them fully in the process of recording his new solo album. We worked closely with Charlie to put together a really compelling pledge campaign and on an A&R level PledgeMusic helped him realise his ambitions for the record."
