The National Music Publishers’ Association is teaming up with the  Harry Fox Agency to offer independent music publishers an opportunity to opt  into a direct licensing agreement with YouTube. The deal lets indie music publishers  grant the necessary rights for the synchronization of their musical  works with select videos posted by YouTube users.

HFA will administer  these direct license agreements between YouTube and publishers with  royalties based on advertising revenue collected worldwide by  YouTube from ads placed alongside user-generated videos.

Participation is available to all independent publishers in the U.S.  They must sign-up for the YouTube direct licensing agreement at youtubelicenseoffer.com from November 17, 2011 through January 16, 2012 to be eligible. – via CelebrityAccess
