Former Warner Bros. Tech SVP Ethan Kaplan Joins Big Champagne Ticketmaster

image from www.google.comJust days after music and media data firm Big Champagne announced its acquisition by Live Nation's Ticketmaster, the company has announced that former Warner Brothers Records SVP of Technology Ethan Kaplan has joined the team.

"Right now we're on the hunt for superstar talent in the product areas, and my first superstar is Ethan Kaplan, who looks like a walking Eric Ries book in black rim glasses.",  BigChampagne co-founder Eric Garland told Fast Company, referring to both Kaplan's appearance and his popular blackrimglasses blog.

No specifics of Kaplan's role in Live Nation's expanded analytics division were given, but using data to improve Live Nation and Ticketmaster's marketing and sales efforts likely tops the list. "Cross-integrating all these points of transactional data and consumer insights is all under our umbrella--it's part of our mandate," according to Garland who is exited that music data is finally getting the recognition it deserves. "When Napster happened, I said this isn't about stealing music – it's about big data. It's about accessing people and connecting them with the things they like."

Sources tell Hypebot that Gardner is already preparing to announce at least one additional major talent acquisition right after the first of the year.
