Spotify Upgrade Is About Much More Than Just Apps

image from cf.scdn.co Last week, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek alluded to features beyond apps. Some started showing up in the beta.  Now Spotify has issued an official list of improvements that are part of the software upgrade rolling out to all users later this week.

  • Updated ‘What’s New’ page – A redesigned page seems more intuitive and includes trending playlists and top tracks amongst friends and in the users geographic region.  Reminds me of the old Billboard regional radio and sales charts…Could be a useful way to track local favorites and find out where they are playing via the new Spotify Songkick app.
  • Predictive search results – About time. Start typing in the search bar and Spotify will suggest possible tracks, artists, albums, playlists and people.
  • Playlist search – Search results now include public playlists from all Spotify users.image from cf.scdn.co
  • New Buddy List – Track what friends are listening to right now with the new Buddy List.
  • Add to Favorites – Add your best friends to your People List for easy access.
  • Full-screen support – Mac OS X Lion users can now enjoy full-screen support.

The full update will be rolling out to all users later this week, according to reports. In the meantime, you can your hands on all these new features in a Preview version here.
