Swiss startup Webdoc is making a splash at Midem, announcing deals with SoundCloud, Songkick and Topspin to integrate them into its rich-media web-posts platform.

For SoundCloud, this involves a drag’n'drop widget for people to pull tracks stored on SoundCloud into their Webdocs, to be played in its HTML5 music player. The Songkick widget, meanwhile, will help artists sell tickets to their gigs from within their Webdocs.

And Topspin? There’s a Webdoc widget for that too, for artists using the D2C platform to sell music, merchandise, tickets and fan club memberships, as well as gathering emails of fans for their mailing lists.

Webdoc has also revealed some stats on a campaign run using the platform. One Direction got fans to create Webdocs to wish happy birthday to a member, and saw more than 6,800 take up the challenge in the first 48 hours.

“It is extremely exciting for us to see our expression canvas used to such great effect, not only by individuals but entire communities like Nirvana, One Direction, or Labrinth” says CEO Stelio Tzonis. “The impact of this new type of expression is amplified well beyond ‘likes’ or comments, and explains the unprecedented engagement levels we’ve been seeing.”
