EMI Launches Global A&R Marketing Team Dedicated To Electronic/Dance Music

image from www.google.comAcknowledging exploding growth in dance and electronic music, EMI has created the EMI Dance Network as a dedicated global A&R and marketing network specializing in the genre. The network will be overseen by Bart Cools, EMI’s EVP of Marketing in Europe and the Rest of the World, and will utilize dedicated resources in all major territories.

EMI is the first major label group to create a global team focused solely on dance and electronic music. The Dance Network will also incorporate releases from EMI’s Positiva dance music label.

According to EMI research in 23 countries, dance/electronic music appeals directly to over a third of all consumers, ranking  just behind modern rock and ahead of R&B and country music. In the UK, in 2011 EMI had a 22% share of the dance singles market and a leading 33.9% of dance artist albums according to the Official Charts Company.

EMI has al ong history in the genre beginning with Kraftwerk through The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem and Air.  More recently, David Guetta, deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Empire Of The Sun have topped the charts for the label group.
