Last week direct-to-fan service Nimbit announced an upgrade of their platform including a new Facebook Promo Tool and Spotlight Store to respond to the introduction of Facebook's Timeline for band pages. In addition to the Facebook tools, Nimbit has enhanced usability across the board with unified controls for all stores including those on partner services PledgeMusic and FanBridge. Nimbit also reported positive results from the introduction of their Tip-In-Cart tipping option shown during checkout for purchases and free downloads.
Nimbit's announcement includes a great deal of information but given Facebook's impending requirement that all pages shift to the new Timeline view, their response to this change should be of particular interest to musicians using their direct-to-fan services.
Nimbit's Spotlight Store for Facebook Timeline
Nimbit's new Spotlight Store for Facebook, shown above, is a free install that is designed for the Timeline view with its larger size graphics.
However, the concern of many musicians given Facebook's Timeline changes is letting fans know about the store and getting them to visit.
Nimbit now includes Facebook app graphics, like the above "LISTEN SHARE BUY" thumbnail, that can be used to replace the Nimbit logo in the now prominent row of Timeline apps links.
Nimbit has also introduced a new Promo Tool to include in the Ticker, Wall or Timeline that links to one's current promotion. That will then take them to one's Spotlight Store where they can continue shopping or even tip in the process of grabbing their free download.
Tipping is facilitated by the Tip-In-Cart feature that was introduced in December. Since some fans do like to tip when able, this feature facilitates superfan interest in supporting artists. Nimbit announced the following results to date:
- 1 in 20 purchases have included a tip (5.2%)
- Tips average $7.84 on purchases and $4.15 on free downloads
- Tips received have ranged from $1 â $100 (the full range currently offered)
- Nimbit artists earned 5.8% more revenue over this period as a result of tips
Additional improvements were mentioned in the announcement and I'm assuming some of this was already in the works prior to Facebook's announcement of a Timeline deadline. However, Nimbit is definitely showing a nimble response to the changes that build on what they've already accomplished to date.
