Kaskade And Ptch To Document U.S. Tour Using Social Video Mashups

Kaskade-freaks-of-nature-staples-center-laLast week, we reported to you about a cool new app that takes a more shareable, music video approach to Instagram called Ptch. The iPhone-only app, designed by a team assembled by DreamWorks Animation, allows users to easily compose short multimedia mashups (up to 60 seconds in length) using the photos, videos and music from their iPhones and social feeds. Clearly recognizing the potential for musicians to utilize this, the company has decided to partner with one of the biggest names in electronic dance music, acclaimed DJ and producer Kaskade.

Kaskade has partnered with Ptch to share his "Freaks of Nature" tour highlights to fans around the world and give his fans a dynamic new way to experience his music and vibrant live dance music atmosphere. Ptch users can share all of their Ptches (their video mashups) across their social media accounts, and Kaskade will be sharing to his massive Twitter and Facebook fan community some behind-the-scenes experiences plus some concert and festival footage.

Ptch also allows users to open up their content so that others can use the imagery to create remixes and mashups of their own. With that in mind, fans can interact with Kaskade to take a cue from the artist and remix, and mashup – or “re-Ptch” – his Ptches with their own styles and personalized content.

“When I plan my tour, I want the fans to be as blown away by the visual components as they are with the music, matching the intensity and energy of the songs with light effects and staging to enhance the live experience,” said Kaskade. “With Ptch, I get to do the same thing through social media, getting an easy way to connect with my fans and giving them a special in-the-moment glimpse into the tour.”

Kaskade recently kicked off his 40-plus-date U.S. tour, highlighted by a headlining set at the Los Angeles Staples Center, which sold out more than a month in advance. Kaskade is also said to be the eighth highest-paid EDM DJ, earning $10 million in a recent 12 month period.
