midem 2013 Hack Day
midem 2013 takes place January 26 to 29, 2013 in Cannes. midem brings together leaders in the music industry each year for presentations, exhibits and events. This year Julia Nunes will kick off the 2013 Artists Speak to Artists program.
In a reminder that the music industry is increasingly becoming the music and tech industry, midem will hold its third Hack Day bringing together 30 developers for 48 hours of intense programming on January 26 and 27.
As Bruno Crolot, Director of the Music Markets at Reed MIDEM, stated in an official announcement:
"The music industry is more and more interested in working with hackers...At midem, the music community is involved in the creation process of new music–related apps; artists, managers, labels, have a chance to express their hack ideas to the developers and all midem participants are the first to get a glimpse at a new and global wave of music apps."
midem Hack Day kicks off with a "one-hour call for ideas session where midem participants will pitch them hack ideas." Intense activity ensues and the final products will be unveiled on the following Monday. If last year's results are indicative, expect an entertaining mix ranging from the ridiculous to the innovative.
