Everyone's Favorite Ticketing Company Ticketmaster Flubs The Innaugural Ball

Ticketmaster aroused the ire of many would-be presidential inaugural ball-goers after inadvertantly starting ticket sales for the event a day ahead of the announced time.
On Sunday afternoon, Ticketmaster sent an email to customers who had signed up for the event, stating that a limited number of tickets would go on-sale on Monday via emailed link, and would be available on a first-come, first serve basis. However, they actually sent the email containing the link to purchase tickets on Sunday evening instead of the previously announced Monday on-sale time and they quickly sold out. They subsequently sent an third email late Sunday night apologizing for the error, but by then, the damage had been done.

Ticketmaster maintains that while tickets did go on sale early, they were still alloted in the standard first-come, first serve basis. "We understand the disappointment people feel if they were unable to obtain tickets, but like all other popular events, demand was much greater than supply," Jacqueline Peterson, senior vice president at Ticketmaster, said in a written statement.

Since then, hundreds of frustrated would-be buyers have taken to the Presidential Inaugural Committee's Facebook page to express their dissatisfaction.

"Very disappointed in the lack of compassion and action on part of Ticketmaster. The best you can do is offer a carefully-worded corporate response. I think the American people deserve better. Shame on you. I'm strongly considering a class action lawsuit," one poster commented. - CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
