MTV, VH1, CMT and Monster DNA Will Match $100K In Fan Donations To Indie Artists On July 4th

flagMTV, CMT and VH1 parent company Viacom and sponsor Monster DNA Headphones are matching dollar-for-dollar fan donations to unsigned artists via the Tip Jar feature on their Artist Platform during Thursday's July 4th Music Independence Day broadcast and online promotion. Tips from fans for unsigned artists will be matched up to $100 per tip and $500 per
artist with a cap of $100,000.

Viacom's Artist Platform is powered by Topspin, but artists don't need to opt into the company's other D2F services to participate.

have tips matched and and videos considered for MTV, CMT and VH1 as part of Music
Independence Day, artists must claim or create their page on the Artist
Platform (artists.MTV.comartists.CMT.com or artists.VH1.com), and opt in to Music Independence Day. To help build momentum, artist should drive fans to their
pages and tip jar on social networks (#MusicIndependenceDay) inviting them to purchase music, leave tips or otherwise show support.

On
July 4th, from 6am – 6pm (ET/PT), MTV,
CMT and VH1 will each put their own spin in how the day of music is celebrated
on-air. But each is broadening their playlists to include more indie artists and cover more varied genres.

  1. Anyone know how they will alert artists they’ve been selected to be played tomorrow? Just can’t imagine sitting there for 12 hours straight trying to watch two different stations to see if by chance any of my fav indie bands are featured.
