Music Publishing Weekly Roundup: Country Awards, ASCAP100 and Audiam

Miranda-lambert-blake-shelton-cma-awards-617-409Nashville celebrated country music this week with four major awards shows – the CMA, ASCAP, BMI and SESAC awards.

SESAC’s Nashville Music Awards honored Keifer Thompson as Songwriter of the Year, Jesse Rice’s “Cruise” as Song of the Year, and Magic Mustang Music as Publisher of the Year. A full list of the night’s winners can be found here.

ASCAP’s 51st Annual Country Awards honored Josh Kear as Songwriter of the Year, both Josh Kear & Chris Tompkins’ “Drunk On You” and Neil Thrasher’s “How Country Feels” as Songs of the Year, and Warner/Chappell as Publisher of the Year. The full list of award winners can be found here.

The 61st Annual BMI Country Music Awards honored Rodney Clawson as Songwriter of the Year, Hunter Hayes & Troy Verges’ “Wanted” as Song of the Year, and Sony/ATV as Publisher of the Year. A complete list of the night’s winners can be found here.

The CMA Awards awarded Song of the Year honors to Jessi Alexander, Connie Harrington and Jimmy Yeary for “I Drive Your Truck”. Other notable winners include George Strait, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. A full list of award recipients can be found here.

ASCAP began the countdown to its 100th anniversary with the launch of its 100 Years, 100 Days campaign. America’s oldest PRO is celebrating a century of American music history and the people who made it with ASCAP100 – a centennial site featuring an interactive timeline, music video and short film. ASCAP turns 100 on February 13th, 2014.

SOCAN has partnered with Audiam to help its members capture their publishing revenue on YouTube. Audiam, the YouTube monetization service founded by TuneCore co-founders Jeff Price and Peter Wells, will help SOCAN members with content ranging from official music videos to UGC by identifying uses, authorizing ad-placements, back-claiming royalties and placing “buy links” under videos. SOCAN members that sign up with Audiam before November 30, 2013 will be charged a discounted administration fee of 15% (usually 25%) until December 31, 2014.
