New Tango Music Pix App Creates Shareable Slideshows With Music Powered By Rumblefish

Tango_logoTango is a leading messaging app with over 250 million registered members and over 70 million monthly active users. Back in July they gave an accidental preview to some tech bloggers about a new app called Tango Music Pix. Today they officially unveiled the app for iOS and Android allowing you to create a slideshow of pics with a micro-licensed backing song provided through Rumblefish.

Tango's been finding ways to include music on its messaging platform from a partnership with Spotify to music channels. Though messaging with music hasn't taken off to date, shooting video clips or photos and adding backing music seems a more likely candidate for success:

Tango Music Pix – Tell Your Story in 30 Seconds

In a nutshell from a company email:

"Users can choose up to 10 pictures from their photo albums, pick a song, preview their slideshow and then share it. The editing process is instantaneous, resulting in a 30-second-long, sharable memory."

"The musical montage can be shared with family and friends via their Tango News Feed, a Tango chat, Facebook, Twitter and email."

The app draws its music from Rumblefish which specializes in micro-licensing of indie music giving videomakers and content creators easy and affordable ways to legally add music to their creations. In this case, Tango's handling the licensing through Rumblefish and both creators and musicians are benefiting.

The company said in the official announcement that their new app was developed by a special new group called Tango Labs "which is focused on developing stand-alone apps that integrate into Tango’s core functionality."

About the group Tango CEO and founder Uri Raz stated:

"The $280 million funding round led by Alibaba gave us the resources to expand our team of talented developers and give them a new outlet for their creative innovation."

Tango Music Pix is available for Android and should be soon for iOS.
