Ethan Kaplan Exits Gracenote For Fender

fender logoLike many heritage brands, Fender has struggled to find its place in the digital era. The company recently named Andy Mooney, an exec with brand building experience at Disney and Nike, as CEO. Today, he hired digital music veteran Ethan Kaplan to lead Fender's digital efforts.

Fender Musical Instruments Corp. has hired music industry veteran Ethan Kaplan as its first Chief Digital Products Officer. Kaplan has been tasked with building a new global digital products division to support and expand the Fender brand.

 

Kaplan joins Fender after just seven months as SVP at Gracenote. Prior to that, Kaplan was an exec at Live Nation's now shuttered Labs division  Kaplan also served as SVP of Technology for Warner Bros. Records and Warner Music Group.

“I am very excited to work for a brand dedicated to the creation of music,” said Kaplan. “The Fender brand means so much to so many people, especially me."
