The RIAA has won another major piracy lawsuit. The music trade group has won a case against a now defunct Grooveshark clone in New York federal court. The jdge granted the RIAA and its major label members more than $13 million in piracy damages alng with another $4 million for "willful counterfeiting," reports TorrentFreak.

The judgement reads:

"Defendants have engaged in willful copyright infringement of Plaintiffs’ copyrights through the Counterfeit Service, which allows users to download and stream infringing copies of Plaintiffs’ copyrighted sound recordings directly from servers operated or controlled by Defendants, in violation of Plaintiffs’ copyrights.”
