Tidal Terminates Two Top Execs

Tidal logoTidal has fired two top executives, CFO Chris Hart and COO Nils Juell, according to multiple sources. For it's part, Tidal is saying that it is just moving more of its operations from Oslo, Norway, home of Tidal predessor WiMP; to New York, but there may be a more complicated backstory.

TIDAL LAUNCH"Tidal has terminated CFO Chris Hart and COO Nils Juell," Tidal said in a statement to The Verge. "As Tidal has grown into a global operation serving 46 countries we have moved our accounting and operations team to New York while our technology team and key support staff remain in Oslo."

Head of Product Ervin Draganovic and CEO Peter Tonstad left Tidal in the middle of last year.

Sources suggest that Juell was most likely fired after a dispute over how Tidal handles streaming data. In recent weeks, Rihanna and Kanye West both failed to crack the Top 20 on Billboard, in large part because of Tidal's reporting.

And despite statements that it is just moving more staff to New York City, neither exec was offered a transfer, plus all of Tidal's tech team and other functions still remain in Norway. Also contributing to the major changes may be CEO Jeff Toig's desire to build his own team.
