The move is likely designed to simplify the user experience and boost traffic on the main Musical.ly site.
Last week, Facebook also launched a rival lip sync feature in direct competition with Musical.ly. Users can now choose the Facebook Lip Sync Live option when starting a live video. After selecting a song from the song list, users can also add a description and customize the video with masks or a background.
Musical.ly and Live.ly were acquired by to Chinese media giant Bytedance late last year in a deal was worth $800 million.
