Two More Spotify Execs Exit, At Least One For Apple Music

Spotify newTwo respected executives at Spotify are exiting the music streamer, and at least one is headed for Apple Music. The pair join a handful of others in what could be a growing trend, as Spotify staffers cash out stock options and are lured by lucrative offers in an increasingly competition streaming sector.

Respected UK tastemkaer George Ergatoudis is leaving Spotify after just two years.  Ergatoudis joined Spotify as Head of UK Content Programming in 2016 and was formerly the Head of Music for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.  Ergatoudis is headed to Apple Music, according to MBW.

Spotify’s Global Head of Artist & Industry Partnerships, Mark Williamson, is also exiting the company.  He has been with Spotify since 2011. While its unclear what his plans are, Williamson will reportedly will remain in LA, rather than return to his UK home. 

“I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say the music world has tilted on its axis in that time and I hope that the change and growth that we’ve seen has been for the better for you and the artists you work with,” Williamson wrote in an exit letter to his team at Spotify.

Two weeks ago, Tuma Basa, Spotify's head of hip-hop programming and Rap Cavier playlist curator, left to join YouTube, as its urban music director.
