Eventbrite sent a message to users that its ToneDen smart-link service, which is popular with musicians and music marketers, is not working due to “an issue with our domain provider, which is unfortunately out of our control.”

Did someone forget to pay the bill?

Whatever the reason, Eventbrite and ToneDen have:

  • paused all ads directing users to the non-functioning .to domains.
  • added a notification banner in our app to inform users about the outage.
  • disabled the creation of new FanLinks using the “.to” domains

The only fix that Eventbrite offers ToneDen users requires a 6 or 7 step manual process that recreates and replaces every smartlink using a new fanlink.tv domain.

All ToneDen users must:

  1. Go to your Smart Link page in ToneDen
  2. Click “Edit Link”
  3. Skip to the Modify Link URL step
  4. Change the URL to “fanlink.tv”
  5. Continue to the “Review and Launch” step and click “Update Link”
  6. If you’ve posted the old URL on your social media platforms or other websites, update these URLs to new URL of your link.
  7. If you have configured a Custom Domain, you will need to update your Advanced DNS settings. Follow the instructions here: How to set up custom domains. First, go to your Advanced DNS settings in your domain provider. Where you see “fanlink.to.” in your CNAME settings, change it to “fanlink.tv.” Then, Delete and re-add your custom domain in your Advertising Settings in ToneDen to ensure it’s configured correctly.
