Could there be yet another reason that Apple is willing to pay $3.2 billion for Beats?

Apple is reportedly readying high-definition audio playback to iOS8, according to Japanese website Mac Otakara. This follows rumors last month that Apple would announce improved audio at their World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in early June.

WWDC is the same gathering where new rumors have Apple announcing new roles for Beats founders Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and their team.

Apple's current music app in iOS 7 can't handle high-quality 24-bit audio files with a frequency above 48 kHz, according to MacRumors. And its current earbuds certainly would also need a major redesign.

Could yet another reason that Apple is aquiring Beats be to jump start its move into HD audio and profit from the hardware sales that are likely to result?
