We last reported on BeatStars back in June,
and since then, the company has seen a good amount of traction. The music production licensing platform has now partnered with leading digital distribution
company INgrooves Fontana, giving songwriters and producers on the platform a
presence on Ingrooves’ Client Console.
This partnership gives INgrooves' label and artist partners
direct access to BeatStars production services and artists.
BeatStars is essentially a digital marketplace that
enables producers and songwriters to license beats and full songs to emerging
and established artists in a simple and relatively cost effective manner. It's been dubbed by many as "The iTunes of Beats" and is by no means limited to merely hip-hop / rap instrumentals, as the platform hosts content from a wide spectrum of genres.
From
inexpensive non-exclusive licenses to complex synchronization licenses,
BeatStars has quietly become a go-to hub for recording artists in need of studio
quality compositions to record vocals over, as well as for music supervisors
seeking the right sound to fit their next TV/Film project. The deal with INgrooves Fontana potentially opens new
revenue streams for independent labels to exploit their music catalogs.
“This is a great day for music producers and production
content owners, as major music companies begin to take interest in this type of
music tech startup,” said INgrooves Fontana founder and CEO, Robb McDaniels (who
has also been named to the BeatStars Advisory Board). “The industry lacks a centralized
hub for production content owners to exploit master works and inspire
collaboration for song creation. BeatStars fills that important niche.”
BeatStars also announced today the launch of their
DIY mobile initiative. Content owners are now able to create custom HTML5
Mobile Web Apps, as well as iOS and Android apps to sell, license and
distribute content.
