[UPDATED] President Biden hosted executives from Live Nation and other companies at the White House on Thursday afternoon to highlight progress on his State Of The Union pledge to end surprise junk fees.
Live Nation pledged to embrace upfront all-in pricing for its owned venues, including service charges and any other fees, by September.
Ticketmaster will also allow consumers to view all-in pricing for other venues and events, and SeatGeek says it will add features to address fee transparency.
‘”Today’s voluntary actions demonstrate that companies both big and small recognize the importance of providing consumers with honest, up-front all-in pricing, rather than tricking them with surprise fees at the end of checkout,” the White House said in a statement. “It is also just a first step towards addressing junk fees in the economy.”
