Billy Strings Takes "Break a Leg" Too Literally in Virginia.

While waiting out his own encore backstage, Billy Strings broke his leg skateboarding backstage and has postponed some live dates.

Bluegrass virtuoso and wunderkind Billy Strings is hitting pause — not on the jams, but on the tour bus.

After reportedly breaking his leg on Saturday in a backstage skateboarding accident mid-show in Charlottesville, Virginia, Strings has postponed the remainder of his current dates, sidelining one of live music’s most relentless performers. Keep up to speed with Billy Strings on Bandsintown.

Dave Grohl has already offered to lend Billy his infamous "throne" for when he goes back on the road in July. Grohl broke his leg during a Foo Fighters concert in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2015, and had the throne made so he could look bad ass while playing guitar with his leg brace.

I guess it’s a reminder that even the most road-hardened artists aren’t immune to offstage chaos — especially when that downtime includes a skateboard. For an artist known for marathon sets and near-constant touring, the interruption is significant — not just creatively, but financially and logistically.

For independent artists, it’s a weirdly practical lesson: touring isn’t just about what happens under the lights. The risks and realities of life on the road can extend far beyond the stage, and a single unexpected moment can ripple across an entire run.

Be careful out there, folks!

And Billy, heal up. Maybe don't take "break a leg" so literally next time you walk out on stage...
