ghost ship fireCriminal charges have been filed in the wake of the Ghost Ship Fire, a deadly warehouse blaze in Oakland last December that left 36 people dead.  According to the New York Times, prosecutors will charge two tenants of the building. Derick Almena, who had a supervisory role at the building, and Max Harris will be charged with 36 counts each of manslaughter. The Times reported that the two were arrested in connection to the charges on Monday. The warehouse was not zoned as a residence and was illegally occupied by artist-residents, who also staged live music and performance events at the space. The fire was one of the deadliest structure fires in more than a decade. Most of the victims were at in attendance at the warehouse when the blaze broke out to attend an electronic music event and became trapped on the second floor of the space.
