Last month, De La Soul released their entire discography free online. Today, the hip hop pioneers, released a new mixtape download "Smell the D.A.I.S.Y." free in partnership with BitTorrent. The new record consists of classic De La Soul lyrics over vintage J Dilla production. In honor of the departed Jay Dee, the group is offering it free in exchange for an email.
The J Dilla Foundation, which funds music programs in inner-city schools, will also benefit.
"We’re collaborating with De La Soul to preserve their music’s legacy; to build the scalable, sustainable, media formats that will ensure its future," BitTorrent said on their blog.
