In an effort to keep its video creators happy and adding new content, Facebook has been testing paid fan subscriptions. The fan patronage subscription model is a direct challenger to Patreon and Kickstarter’s Drip.Subscriptions currently cost $4.99 a month. Facebook apparently is not taking a fee, at least during the test period, according to recode.  But Apple and Google are processing transactions and the standard 30% that they charge for in-app purchases means creators will net about $3.50 per subscription.
