We were told back in September that two years to the month after Apple launched Ping – it's never-got-off-the-ground attempt to merge music with social – the company was shutting it down. Yesterday it happened.
The now dark Ping's lack of a connection with Facebook, even as the later soared, virtually guaranteed this day would come.
