Popular playlist radio service 8tracks has hired digital music executive Jon Maples as VP of Product. Maples served as the vice president of product and content at Rhapsody, for five years.

Working alongside 8tracks’ expanding product and engineering teams, Maples will be responsible for guiding 8tracks’ product development, including personalization features to help surface the best playlists for each community member.

“8tracks has created a passionate community of music enthusiasts that share and discover music,” said Jon Maples. “I’m excited to build upon this unique platform to deliver even greater value to listeners, DJs, artists, and advertisers.”

8tracks recently announced partnerships with INgrooves, CD Baby, Dim Mak, and DashGo that added 6.5 million songs to the service’s new Library to make playlist creation more seamless. Two-thirds of the service’s 30 million monthly listening hours are streamed from independent labels and artists.
